Story in short:
Ashitaka is a young warrior who lives in a peaceful village. One day, his village is attacked by a demon. Ashitaka defeats it, but he is cursed in the fight. The curse will slowly kill him. To find a cure, Ashitaka leaves his home.
Ashitaka travels to a land where humans and nature are fighting. The humans live in Iron Town, led by Lady Eboshi. She wants to help her people by cutting down the forest and using its resources.
The forest is protected by animal gods and spirits. A girl named San, also called Princess Mononoke, was raised by wolves. She hates humans because they hurt the forest. She fights to protect nature.
Ashitaka meets both sides and sees that neither is fully good or bad. Lady Eboshi cares for sick and poor people. San loves the forest and wants to save it. Ashitaka wants peace between humans and nature.
The fighting becomes worse when people try to kill the Forest Spirit, who gives life to the land. When the Forest Spirit is hurt, the land begins to die. Ashitaka and San work together to return the Forest Spirit’s head.
In the end, the forest is damaged, but it starts to heal. Lady Eboshi promises to rebuild in a better way. San stays in the forest, and Ashitaka stays nearby to help both sides.
The movie ends with hope that humans and nature can learn to live together.
Opinion and recommendation:
I recommend this movie because it teaches us to respect nature. It shows that fighting is not the answer and understanding is important.
